Approved Access to Washington Street

As returning families will remember, last spring we successfully arranged for VCS to participate in the Open Streets program, through which Lower School students were able to use a closed block on Barrow Street for some of their P.E. classes and other periods of outdoor play. We applied again this year for the use of a neighboring street and are delighted to have just been approved for access to Washington Street between West 10th and Christopher Streets.

Starting Monday, September 20th, this block will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and VCS students of all ages will have the opportunity to utilize it for some of their P.E. and Recess periods. A guard will be stationed at the space throughout the day to monitor the traffic barricade, and students will be walked to Washington Street and supervised by at least one teacher per Pod.

All students must have a Permission Form on file to travel to Washington Street. Please complete and digitally submit the Form by Friday, September 17th. These Forms are required by the DOE. Families with multiple children at VCS will need to complete a separate Permission Form for each child.
