Big Buddies/Little Buddies

At the Opening Assembly, our 8th Graders showed their leadership by offering advice – and friendship – to the younger students in the school. This week, students in Kindergarten and K/1st Grade were able to see how genuine that offer was when they struck up the yearlong friendships they will each share with one particular 8th Grader – their Big Buddy! The Big Buddies/Little Buddies program is a time-honored tradition that brings our oldest and youngest students together for games and activities throughout the year, and is a source of joy for 8th Graders and K/1st Graders alike.

On Wednesday, our 2019-2020 Buddies met for the first time, and spent this relaxed time getting to know each other while crafting, block-building, puzzling and more. Even in that initial meeting, bonds were forged between students which will make our K/1st Graders feel more comfortable in our school community and give our 8th Graders a new perspective on their leadership role. Neither wanted to say goodbye, but happily these Buddies will get together for another meeting in only a few short weeks. We can’t wait to watch as their friendships continue to blossom this year.
